Size Reduction
Trusted & Recommended Industrial Recycling
SIZE REDUCTION SHREDDING, GRINDING & METAL SEPARATION
PSI’s size reduction starts with inspection and planning. Incoming products & shipping paperwork are inspected against bill of laden where receiving inspections record weights and parts as per customer expectations. Adequate planning and protective measures start as soon as client products arrive. Part of our material quality process and product management services depends on the accuracy of shipments from our client’s origins, be it their material sources, satellite locations, customers, or vendors. Many of our customers rely on PSI as the only line of assuring accuracy in tracking product weight counts, quantities, quality, and matching material specifications as these shipments may never go through our customer’s doors. The data collected is then transmitted to these customers daily or weekly, creating inventories as required by each customer as their products begin the staging process for production.
Products move onto staging inspection and disassembly (if required). In this phase, all products are reviewed, and non-conforming materials are disassembled & removed. Assurances are taken before the automated production process gives greater assurance to quality standards. Our goal is to manage potential problems before they happen. Each step of our operations is expressly set up to contribute to quality. In this stage, parts are assembled by color, type, material, or any customer requirements. Our floors are kept clean; our plant stays safe with employees alert, and boxes are appropriately stacked in an orderly fashion to maintain efficient workmanship and discipline of our employees; even the smallest details contribute to quality and professionalism.
The automated Production process also begins with inspection. Before parts are loaded for size reduction, they have a final review of the disassembly and pre-sizing work. Special attention is given to possible contaminates of all types with the effort to remove them before entering any size reduction operations. Materials then go through a seven stage process before they’re completed and packaged for labeling and curing. Redundancy of ferrous and non-ferrous metal removal has been built into the process at three different levels. Fines, paper, and fiber removal further ensure a high quality regrind ready for downstream processing in our Pelletizing operation or shipped out for re-molding by our customers or to their vendors. Our equipment has built-in procedures to reduce fines and preserve the quality our customers expect. PSI maintains multiple in-line size reduction processes for various parts, product sizes, and material types. All care is taken to eliminate cross-contamination between our processing lines. Some materials are isolated or processed in separate buildings to protect the integrity of other processes and materials. Remote Mobile programs are handled separately in the continental U.S. only. For more information, please contact the office by phone or email. Size Reduction Processing Stages:
